UPDATES ON NORMANS CONDITION
Hand Operation
Letter from Norman and Sue – 1 January 2009
Well, the New Year has rolled around again and we are pleased to say that Norman is feeling
much better and still continues to improve. He spent a lot of last year up in Nelspruit with
his folks and really enjoyed it up there. They live on a small holding in the mountains just
before entering town and have a lot of bird life around the house which Norman loves. It never
ceases to amaze people how he can identify virtually every bird just by their calls.
Our big fundraising event was the Golf Day on 23 November which was a great success and we raised
just under R34,000-00. Thanks so much to all of you who participated in the day and to those who
donated prizes, bednights and sponsored holes. It was a glorious day (too warm for some who seemed
to melt as the day went on) and it was so encouraging to see all of Norman’s friends together again.
You have all been great and we really appreciate your continued support and visits.
Norman underwent a huge hand operation on 4th December. He was operated on both hands to extend the
tendons and allow his hands more functionality. We go back to the doctor in mid January and are
hopeful of a good result. The down side to this is that he is in excruciating pain at the moment,
but this too will pass with time.
Roland, Hayley and I are glad to have him home again. We have all been through quite a tough year
but things seem to be settling down now. Thanks to all our friends who have stood by us during this
time and for making us laugh when things get us down. Now that Norman is more mobile and is able to
travel easily we hope to visit all of you that live far from Jo’burg.
We have only one wish for you all for the New Year, and that is to appreciate your loved ones and
have a healthy 2009.
With lots of love, Norman, Sue, Roland and Hayley.
Please keep in contact.

***** We are still appealing to the travel industry to use the bednights *****
that have been donated to the Trust. If you have any
clients wanting to stay at any of the lodges displayed
on the Website, please contact Wayne Prichard
from An African Anthology and he will advise
how this can be done.
All monies generated by doing this will go towards Norman's rehabilitation.
A message from Norman and Sue...
Dear Wayne, Anita, Chris, Dave, Quinton and Anke,
Sometimes in life - if we are really lucky - we meet one or two very
special people during the course of a whole lifetime.
In the last four months we count ourselves blessed to have you as
friends. Daily we are astounded at what you have done for us.
We cannot find the words to say how much you all mean to us, nor can
words express our sincere gratitude for everything you have done.
We truly believe that in the "great circle of things" gifts such as you
have given will be rewarded many times over.
Thank you seems so inadequate.
With all our love and trust for a full and speedy recovery, Norman and
Sue.
